Chapter 1: The poison's initial sting
The caustic smell of sulphur filled the large beige tent; a scent Kate was quite accustomed to. Beakers filled with bubbling liquids of green, blue, red and a multitude of other vibrant hues, cast the light skinned poisoner in a psychedelic array of reflected colours. The temperature within the tent prickled her skin with beads of glimmering sweat, as she worked over one of the many wire-lidded pots containing a small crackling fire. The flames of the fire licked at the bottom of a tinted glass container.
